By reservation, we booked a Go Car, and rode around San Francisco for 3 1/2 hours for $200.
Now, we love Segways and we do think it's the best way to explore a New city; but we traveled around 10-15 miles today in a Go Car on busy streets and we got to experience it without a tour guide and however we wanted to do it, we got to travel around San Francisco on our own terms. We were able to get down on the street level and experience a wide variety of locations and cultures in a short amount of time. We were not traveling on a bus with a mass amount of people, we were two adventurers exploring a new city for the first time together with automated audio commentary and a GPS system. Also, how crazy and fun is it to write a go cart around downtown of a major city?! Unheard of!!!
As we rode, we listened to audio commentary that is triggered by GPS latitude and longitude signals, so when we approached a point of interest the GPS function triggered and told us history about the place that we were approaching. It also directed us on the route that the company had created for us. The route was specifically designed to see the the most interesting points in San Francisco. We cruised by tourist crowded areas into locals only areas and throughout downtown.
Also, they gave us a map that was laminated so we could navigate ourselves just in case the GPS wasn't working for us.
We had an absolute blast and we would do it tomorrow if we didn't already have grand plans.
