This little trek is an easy jaunt away from Vancouver, British Columbia. Located in Golden Ears Provincial Park, a winding trail leads along a forested canyon before climbing steeply to Panorama ridge where this photo was taken. Some friends and I split this hike into two days, allowing us to spend a night on Panorama Ridge to enjoy the incredible views in all directions. The hike finishes by summiting the Golden Ears peak, giving you a superb 360-degree view of the surrounding area. While it is possible to do this trek in a single day, it is quite the hike, and making a weekend of it gives you the chance to relax and enjoy the landscape.
This particular photo was taken as the moon rose over the summit behind our camping spot on Panorama ridge. I particularly enjoyed the lit up red tent set amidst the dark rock and moonlit sky.
