The old housing stock in Pittsburgh is one of the many things that make the city so charming. If you like exploring historical landmarks that can take you back in time, the Frick is a place to visit.
The house tour is great—you will learn a lot about Pittsburgh's early renaissance, its culture, and the politics of the time. There are unique features to this tour that I will not ruin, but I will say visiting the Frick (especially in the winter) is a favorite thing to do among locals.
The house is joined with an art and car museum. It is adjacent to an entrance to Frick Park, which spans some 10 miles across the city and is one of the most beautiful and secluded urban parks in Pittsburgh.
Don't forget to check out the very popular cafe at the Frick. It is a lovely and romantic little cafe. One time I was there getting tea with a couple of friends after a nice walk through Frick Park and saw someone propose in the cafe garden!
You'll want to call ahead about both the tour and the cafe.
