In 1982, Donna and Kevin Maltz began baking and selling bread from their van, braving unpaved roads and blizzards just to reach Homer. Today they still serve what they call “soil-to-soul” food—as local as possible—from this cheery cabin in town. Standout dishes include cinnamon-swirl French toast, reindeer sausage and a smoked brisket with rhubarb-chipotle barbecue sauce.
