Four Seasons, Milan
Everything old becomes new again in Italy. I really admire how the Italians think of ways to make the old beautiful and relevant. The Four Seasons in Milan is such a lovely hotel and I get a kick knowing that it was actually a 15th-century convent before it became a hotel. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with gardens and some of the rooms have views of the Duomo. Murano chandeliers and rich fabrics make the rooms feel quite opulent, but still comfortable. —Sir Russell Coutts 6-8 Via Gesù, 39/(0) 27-7088. This appeared in the June/July 2013 issue.
