Being a self-proclaimed doughnut snob, I was a little wary walking into a place that prides itself on *not* being a real doughnut. Welcome to LA, and fōnuts.
fōnuts uses different methods of steaming and baking at high heat instead of traditional frying, essentially a healthier way of indulging in your sweet tooth. I tried the gluten free Chocolate Hazelnut and, while quite crumbly, it had a rich chocolate flavor and an even more delectable frosting. Other tasty gluten-free and vegan flavors (all made with almond flour) include Coconut Passion Fruit and Vanilla Latte.
If you want to stick with the "real stuff", fōnuts has non-faux doughnuts as well, including a Salted Caramel, the Hawaiian and my favorite, a sweet Rosemary Olive Oil.
