Most travelers on Praslin in search of nature head to the Vallee de Mai Reserve. Although deserving of it’s UNESCO World Heritage status, the Vallee de Mai is often quite busy and it’s relatively expensive to enter. A lesser-known option is the recently opened Fond Ferdinand Nature Reserve, offering the same opportunity to view Seychelles’ incredible flora and fauna, at a fraction of the price and devoid of the crowds. A hike through the preserved palm forest makes you feel like you’ve been sent back to the time of the dinosaurs. Dense in birds and also home to the Coco de Mer – a palm tree with the largest seeds on Earth – you’ll never forget this experience.
