A Hideaway in the Redwoods - Can't Wait to Go Back
While shooting a wedding here a while back, I fell in love with this place. Evergreen Lodge is a group of cabins, nestled in the redwoods only minutes from Yosemite and the Hetch Hetchy. You can book cozy or roomy family-sized cabins. It is rustic in every sense of the word, but there is a darling restaurant, with outside patio, trails, fireplaces, game room, swings and structures to climb on and room to run! There is also the option of camping in their tented area for much less $$. Either way, take flashlights. Staff is very friendly.
If you do go, don't miss the wonderful 2-3 mile hike to the falls at the Hetch Hetchy. You will marvel at the engineering of the dam itself... extraordinary. If you see a ranger/docent, take advantage of him/her- they are a wealth of knowledge about the workings of the dam and this incredible water system; this is the water we drink in the SF Bay Area! Once through the tunnel you will follow a mildly steep trail through wildflowers to the falls (you might take a rain cover in your backpack for the spray).
So far, my only regret about the Evergreen Lodge is that it books up so fast- so book early!
