Estación del Norte
Here’s a railway station worth making tracks for. The Estación del Norte is a Modernista masterpiece dating from 1917, the ornamental facade of which has motifs of oranges and orange blossoms (very Valencia), while the ticket hall is a bejeweled marvel of local craftsmanship in glass, ceramic tiles, mosaic and wood. While you’re in the area, take a look at the Plaza de Toros de Valencia, an imposing 19th-century arena and one of Spain’s most important bullrings. It’s right next door.
