A Rush of Water in a Desert Country: Epupa Falls, Namibia
It's as if the earth has sprung a leak. So much of Namibia is dry and dusty as if water there is a secret -- hidden away somewhere in the landscape where people seldom go. Just at the Angola border, the Kunene River, a thick vein running through the hills, spreads out wide and tumbles down a steep cliff. It seems more water is falling down than could be in the river, as if it's also leaking out of the rocks themselves. A beautiful place to stop for the night ... there is a lodge located right on the banks of the river. But don't swim across it or the crocodiles will get you!
