The theater at Epidaurus is remarkable for many reasons. It's the best preserved ancient Greek theater. It's in such good shape that they still hold performances there every summer. Try to time your visit to one. The acoustics are incredible. And the setting is gorgeous. You approach the theater on a path through the woods, and when you walk up to the higher levels of seats, you're presented with a view of the surrounding hills. We visited in late June, and shared the site with probably 20 other people? We were traveling with a kid, so we didn't explore all the grounds, where you'll find ruins of the sanctuary of Asklepios, where people came to be healed. This is one of several ancient Greek sites where for some reason I was surprised by the natural beauty. But then I realized, those ancient Greeks knew how to pick their spots.
