English Harbour, Antigua
For more than two centuries, from the end of the 17th to the end of the 19th, English Harbour was a center of British naval operations in the Caribbean. Nelson’s Dockyard takes its name from the fact that Admiral Horatio Nelson was stationed there from 1784 to 1787. Today the harbor is home to Antigua Sailing Week, a world-class regatta that takes place each year beginning at the end of April.
