El Castro and Parque Monte del Castro

192 Avenida de Castrelos

Presiding above the port and city, the fortress citadel El Castro is now surrounded by formal gardens, terraces and shady paths instead of soldiers on parade. A walk through the well-used park reveals ruins of a 2nd-century B.C.E. Celtic settlement, a naval war memorial consisting of anchors and cannons from sunken galleons, as well as an amphitheater, fountains, running trails, playgrounds and cafés.
