East Coast Trail
Passing through St. John’s, the East Coast Trail extends north and south of the city and includes 265 kilometers (165 miles) of developed trails that lead past fjords, atop cliffs and by a geyser named the Spout that is powered by crashing waves. The trail comprises several paths and includes nature preserves and places to spot whales and even (sometimes) icebergs. Connecting more than 30 communities, the scenic trail is free and the paths are of varying degrees of difficulty.
