Lands End Labyrinth
The Labyrinth off Lands End trail is one of my absolute favorite places in San Francisco. (To my future husband: this is where you can propose.) Unseen from the path, it feels like you've discovered a mysterious secret - and you have! Still few locals know about this peaceful and breathtaking lookout. The Marin Headlands and Golden Gate Bridge unfold before you to the right, with the setting sun making a spectacular display on your left. There is simply no better lookout. The best time is just after the sun has set. All around you the Bay's clouds are softly awash in blush. Usually by this time most visitors have retreated from the cold and the dramatic expanse is all yours for quiet reflection while the waves crash against the cliffs. Bring a jacket, a snuggle buddy and a flask of whiskey to keep you warm. If you stay late, you might want a flashlight to help you find your way out!
