Desert Adapted Elephant safari
Self-driving through Namibia with a 3 and a 5 year old can be trying at times, but this sight had us all mesmerized for days. We came across this very large family of elephants at the end of a long journey from Sossusvlei as we were nearing our destination of Doro Nawas in the heart of Damaraland. At first when the elephants appeared in the distance, we thought it was a mirage, but as we came closer, we started to see the details of the group, including 5 or 6 baby elephants, barely 3 months old. These giants traipsed across the dry earth towards a small waterhole that bordered the 3 house town. It was there that we crossed paths, content with our own self made safari.
