After visiting a sherry bodega, we drove on in pursuit of the scenic white villages of Andalucía's mountains. The drive itself was gorgeous as we passed seemingly endless fields of sunflowers. Eventually the road climbs and becomes deserted save for the signs indicating each tiny village. We visited a few different villages and admired the whitewashed houses that glistened in the afternoon sun. We even attempted to drive towards the village center of one but failed as our car could not handle the steep incline of the streets. In fact, we got stuck at a particularly sharp and narrow turn at one point. Eventually we made it out and started the drive back to Seville.
While the whitewashing of the villages may not date back further than the 1920s, it is a beautiful sight to see and will certainly appeal to those looking to travel beyond the well trodden path.
