Dartmoor National Park

About a 40-minute drive from Plymouth, Dartmoor National Park feels like a different world. The setting of Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Hound of the Baskervilles, the park’s windswept moors are dotted with otherworldly granite hills called tors. According to local legends (often recounted in a lilting accent), Dartmoor is haunted by spirits, ghosts and other legendary apparitions. After exploring the moors, warm yourself up in a tea shop with a cuppa (cup of tea) accompanied by scones and Devonshire clotted cream.
