If you're ever in Taipei and looking for something to do on the weekend, paying a visit to Danshui is a great option. The small city of Danshui lies to the north of Taipei. It was once the center of shipping and commerce in northern Taiwan, and it features a number of historical attractions.
But one of the main attractions of Danshui is its boardwalk along the Danshui River (which flows into the Taiwan Strait). Here along the breezy boardwalk people can shop, eat, watch beautiful sunsets, and mingle with friends.
Another main attraction in Danshui is the Damshui Ferry, which will take visitors across the river to Bail Township and Fisherman's Wharf. At Fisherman's Wharf, people will discover more shopping and dining options as well as the famous "Lover's Bridge" - a single-slanted tower cable pedestrian bridge modeled after a sailing ship's mast and rigging. The bridge changes colors at night and is a popular place for the romantic at heart.
