Until actually visiting the The Bonsai Art Museum in Saitama (a neighboring town to Tokyo), I didn't realize how much hard work goes into creating the varying designs. Different materials and techniques are used to achieve a certain look and this tradition is especially in Japan's older generation.
Upon arriving to the museum, our guide took us through the exhibitions, pointing out the many techniques used in achieving a specific look. My favorite part was venturing outside to look at the Bonsai trees on display in the garden.
If you visit the museum, I recommend using the audio guide, which details every tree on display. Make sure to snap a few photos of the outdoor trees before sunset.
