Cultura Winery

3601 Highland Dr, Zillah, WA 98953, USA

What happens when you take a classic car storage garage, send the gas guzzlers packing and fill it up with French and American oak barrels stocked with the local crush of reds and whites? Cultura happens. This small batch, boutique winery has deep roots in the valley culture and passion. Tad and Sarah Fewel grew up in the Yakima Valley and use their connection to the land and community to produce fruit and exquisitely crafted wines. With a farming pedigree that reaches back over a century on Sarah’s side of the family, and the innovative spirit of the Fewel family’s biodiesel plant, which Tad runs down in Zillah, this is a valley power couple to contend with. The “Bio-Fewel” that runs much of the vineyard equipment is just another level of commitment these two have to the land and sustainability of farming the Yakima Valley. The Tad and Sarah single-handedly redefine the meaning of “Zillbilles.” Did I mention the wine? Exquisite. During our visit, Tad was pouring the Zinfandel, yet to be fully developed and still in the barrel, but indicative of the wine’s potential. This winemaker offered to continue sending updates to anyone purchasing this wine over the coming months to insure nobody opened it prematurely. Customer service. The Cabernet Sauvignons were ready to go, right out of the bottle. Get busy! Get Cultura!
