When you find a place that you love, you tend to make an extra effort to return to that location every single time you're in town. Such is the case with Cozy Dog Drive In, in Springfield, Illinois.
Every single time I am around, I cruise on up to the counter, jump in line beneath the fabulously designed interior, order a few signature corn dogs with a basket of fries and pile up a paper-bowl with pickles (some of the best I've ever eaten), jalapeños, and lots of raw onions. Then I sit in a gorgeous booth and try to look at everything covering the walls and floor before my meal comes direct to the booth.
It is *the best*.
If you decide to make the trip to Illinois' State Capital--Springfield--be sure to stop in to Cozy Dog Drive In (it's on Route 66!). While you're waiting for the lovely staff to bring you your meal, check out everything--including the wall covered in number-plates, and the case dedicated to Ed Waldmire Jr. (the Cozy Dog creator) memorabilia.
And before you leave, be sure to sign the guestbook--the eclectic collection of signatures from all over the world is proof of the magnetic deliciousness of the simple Cozy Dog.
They're so irresistible.
