Quick trivia question: Where is the court in Downtown Memphis' Court Square?
Well, actually, there isn't one. Court Square, between Main and Second streets, is a few blocks from the courts and other government entities in Downtown Memphis. In the 1800s when Memphis pretty much just consisted of what today is known as Downtown, Court Square was at the center of it all. But there never was a court located there.
Today, the square is surrounded by law offices, restaurants, hotels and apartment buildings.
On a welcoming sunny day, the park fills with Downtown workers on their lunch breaks, enjoying a bite on one of the park's benches. The city's growing food truck scene sometimes has mini food truck rodeos in and around the square. And don't be surprised to hear live music coming from the park's gazebo or near the historic fountain at the center. Mini-festivals occur often in the park.
