"Normal" Day At The Table in Costa Rica!
At this point, we were on a really long drive over to our cabins, and we stopped for lunch. We were still getting to know each other, and it's funny thinking how we were still coming out of our comfort zones, to how easy going we were with each other over the days we spent over there. The tables is where we got to get to know each other too, along with our adventures. Because at the table we would talk, and play cards! We'd discuss our day, and just in general get to know each other. And there was almost always something for us to see. Like a butterfly, a stray animal, some not so stray animals, and if we were lucky enough, we'd see a wild animal, and even spiders and odd insects. Frogs, too! Batty for bats!
The first place we stayed at after San Jose's hotel, the girls Cabins was right next to a big tree. That tree had bats flying everywhere and all around. I found out from this how much of a fascination I had with them. I would go out and stand under the tree practically every night we were there and just watch them fly beside me. That's one of my favorite moments there. Learning AFAR, in partnership with Global Explorers, promotes cross-cultural exchange by sending students on trips to experience other parts of the world.
