Mixology Fusion: Prosecco & Ice Pops at the Conrad New York
Prosecco on tap is not terribly easy to find in the Big Apple, but there’s one new hotel in town that is doing everything exceptionally well including providing bubbly on tap. The Conrad New York's Loopy Doopy Rooftop Bar sounds like something out of a Looney Tunes cartoon, but its name is inspired by the larger than life piece of wall art by Sol LeWitt in the lobby of the hotel.
Loopy Doopy is small but has commanding views of several Lower Manhattan attractions including the Statue of Liberty, so a drink here is well worth it. The bar is now well known for their ice pops made from pureed fruit and then flavored with various spirits: the “Prosecco & Ice Pops” is mixology fusion at its best.
Best eaten on a warm day, the pops come in various flavors: Appletini (with Absolut Hibiscus Vodka); Orangeade (with Cointreau); Morello Cherry (with 10 Cane Rum); Lime Margarita (with Agave Tequila) and Pina Colada (with Malibu Coconut).
Eat these pops just like a kid, or have it served in a wide-rimmed glass of Prosecco on tap, which is a very modern and adult way to be a kid again. You can nosh on other items like the Loopy Doopy Homemade Nuts with smokey citrus almonds, Thai chili heirloom nuts, and herb spiced jumbo peanuts.
Tip: Arrive early because the bar gets crowded with banker types (the hotel is right next door to the Goldman Sachs building). The bar opens at 4:00pm and stays open until 12 am or 1 am on weekdays/weekends. Phone: 212 945-0100
