Kailua-Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii is this great little town, full of fun history and beautiful sunsets on the coast. Lots of blue water, green mountains, and lava rock. If you stay in town, there are so many great hotels to stay in right on the water, or you can get a condo on the golf course. There is tons to do with in walking distance in town—like eat, drink, and shop. If you want to get out of town for the day, that doesn't take long. In about an hour and half (or less), you can be in the Volcano National Park, up at the Mauna Kea Observatory, down in Waipio Valley, or at the historical site of Honaunau (which is great for snorkeling). Kona is great for families, romantic for couples, and one of the best places to see the sun set.
