No trip to DC’s wine country would be complete without a visit to Chrysalis Vineyards. Owner and Founder Jennifer McCloud’s magnificent 412-acre farm is home to the 71-acre vineyard which specializes in unique French and Spanish varietals as well as the world’s largest planting of the native Virginia Norton grape. With origins dating back to 1820, the dark, robust, full-bodied grape was even declared at the 1873 Vienna World Exposition as the “best red wine of all nations.” Look for the Barrel Select or the Schitz and Giggels. Also, feel free to bring meat and grilling supplies to take advantage of their twin 48 inch grills and relax on the patio overlooking the picturesque Bull Run Mountains.
