I'm a sucker for sparkly lighting, and after I caught my breath, the Chowmahalla Palace took my chandelier envy to new heights. Completed in 1869 during the period of the Nizams, the complex is unique in its style and elegance. The Belgian crystal chandelier collection is way over the top and coupled with the massive assortment of accessories and artwork, you really get a feel for this period of opulence. Although the bulbs are rarely turned on, the light streaming through the expansive windows is more than enough to make them one of the most impressive features of the palace. Car buffs make sure to see the antique autos housed in a separate building.
