One of my favorite weekend getaways from Denver is to Colorado Springs with places to stay like the Cheyenne Mountain Resort. In the summer time, guests can enjoy a 35-acre lake and white sandy beaches (yes, they pull this off even being at the base of majestic Cheyenne Mountain) and outdoor tennis courts along with four outdoor pools. But even beyond summer, and the draw of a mountainside beach, I found this resort to be a fun weekend getaway on its own right. There is an indoor aquatics center to swim laps and even indoor tennis courts to rally. But the top amenity, in my opinion, is the newly opened Alluvia Spa.
Although Colorado Springs has plenty of choice restaurants, one of the best places to eat is actually right at the resort, which is where I headed after finishing up my spa treatments. The Mountain View Restaurant serves awesome food and views. After dinner, I decided to spend some quality time stargazing from my room's patio. The 316 rooms here occupy eight separate lodges, which give it a true mountain getaway feel. The decor is Rocky Mountain chic with plenty of nature inspired photos and warm earth tones in both the furnishings and bedding.
