Château Gruaud Larose caters to wine and architecture lovers alike. You'll have the opportunity to sample top shelf (Deuxièmes Crus classification) Bordeaux wines, and admire the spaces and views around you.
The castle dates back to 1725, and sits in the midst of a striking geometric, and minimalist park. Its traditional, classic architecture is juxtaposed by the 2015 addition of a ultra contemporary visitor center and view tower, designed by Bordeaux architects Lanoire & Courrian. Make sure you make your way up the tower, the views of the surrounding vineyards and the chateau are vast and gorgeous.
Château Gruaud Larose offers a number of different tours, from the 'Essential' (estate, tower, cellar, wine tasting) that I took, to more involved ones that include hiking, or food/wine pairings, etc. Definitely check their website before you visit.
