USS Constitution
A trip to Boston, especially the first time, would be incomplete without a short walk across the Charlestown Bridge to the Navy Yard. Not only is the surrounding neighborhood filled with lovely colonial houses encircling the magnificent Bunker Hill Monument, but the jewel and flagship of the US Navy, the USS Constitution, is docked at the Yard, waiting for you to step aboard. "Old Ironsides" is the oldest commissioned Navy ship, dating to 1797. Except for a brief cruise in Boston Harbor every 4th of July (to maintain her commissioned status), The USS Constitution is parked here, with a beautiful view of the harbor and Boston in the foreground. Old Ironsides' rigging is a geometrical masterpiece and the ship remains in perfect condition, just waiting for your glimpse back into our past.
