This humble hostel is a therapeutic oasis for sun burnt travelers who find themselves all beached out. The town of Krabi is situated slightly inland, and consequently does not attract the hoards of tourists wrestling to stay beachfront. The city is rich with Thai culture, fresh markets and massage among the wealth of things to do. The owners of Chan Chalay are happy to offer their expertise in exploring the scene, and helped me acquire a taxi to the nearby Tiger Cave Temple--a strenuous climb, but worth all 1,627 steep steps to see "Buddha's footprint" and stunning views of Thai country and coastline. Aside from feeling like a local at Chan Chalay, you'll sleep serenely in their cozy blue bedrooms, and bathe in exotic bliss under their tropical outdoor showers. Did I mention it is $12 a night? Enough said.
