Cerne Abbas
Cerne Abbas, a quaint countryside village north of Portland, grew around a Benedictine abbey established in 987. While Cerne Abbas is a beautiful destination in its own right, with stone houses, historic churches and a relaxed pace of life, its most popular attraction is the 180-foot-tall naked man carved into a nearby hillside. Not much is known about the origins of the Cerne Abbas Giant, though legends of its fertility powers abound.
