I was so struck by the overpowering magnificence of Notre Dame Cathedral that I stood outside its huge, carved doors for three days running... before I felt worthy enough to enter her sacred chambers. It is such an amazing spectacle that it is easy to become overwhelmed by the majesty of it all.
Each day I would stroll through the cathedral's colorful gardens, listen to the powerful bells toll, and sit and study the exquisite architecture, statuary and gargoyles.
I knew that the cathedral had recently undergone a 10 year a renovation, but, still I was curious as to how the all towering statues that adorned the front of the cathedral remained in such pristine condition.
Then one day, on my way back to my flat on I'le Saint Louis, I came across this sight. There atop a cherry picker crane stood this worker painstakingly cleaning the intricately carved statues with just a small artist brush and a vacuum hose.
I was in awe of his focus and attention to detail as he lovingly brushed the crevices freeing them of dirt and debris with all the precision of an artist. Watching his artistry certainly added to my appreciation of what I consider one of the most amazing and wonderful cathedrals in the world!
