Catedral de Merida

Minisculized in Merida
Did you ever feel like Alice in Wonderland after she drank from the drink-me bottle and grew really, really tiny? Stand in front of the door to Catedral de Merida, the oldest church in the Americas, and you will understand. This almost 500 year old Cathedral is overwhelmingly grand. But I think the coolest part about standing in front of its imposing door is the constant flow of native Meridans who stop and offer to share its history. They are obviously personally attached to this massive beauty in their midst. Attached enough to stop and talk and boast a little and make you feel like, just because you are standing beneath its towering spires, you are part of something grand.
