The Catalina: A Stylish, Perk-y Hotel with a Fun, South Beach Attitude
Perfectly located in South Beach on Collins Avenue, the Catalina Hotel & Beach Club is across the street from some of the priciest hotels in the area, including the SLS, Surfcomber, and the Delano to name a few. It’s also just a block more away from the never-ending stretch of white sand beach and turquoise blue waters, and within walking distance to Ocean Drive, Lincoln Road, and other South Beach hotspots.
As for the cost, it’s the perks that make the Catalina worth the price tag, which is reasonable compared to its oceanfront neighbors. Some of the hotel’s FREE STUFF includes: happy hour from 7-8pm every night (very beneficial so you can score yourself free well mixed drinks and save some cash before heading out to South Beach’s pricey nightlife), red beach-cruiser bicycles to roam around the streets, and two beach chairs + towels to lounge about at the hotel’s beach club under the hot Miami sun.
The hotel also has a quirky boutique layout, artsy décor, two pools (one rooftop pool complete with white lounge beds, and another more serene one surrounded by bamboo trees and globe lights strung across the pool), plus four bars and two restaurants (Kung Fu Sushi and Maxine’s). Having dined at Maxine’s, the ambiance was lively, the food delicious, and the waiter very pleasant (which we discovered wasn’t a guarantee in Miami).
Overall, a stay at the Catalina is an ideal choice for those who want to experience the heart of vibrant South Beach with an attitude all its own.
