In the heart of every tourist-trap there is, within it, a rustic bungalow.
The same sounds echoed in my eardrums whether the sun was setting or rising. Cars, barking dogs, children laughing, and the delicate sounds of tropical birds (that strangely look like your average joe crow) sounded off whether I was waking or gingerly falling asleep in my comfortable bungalow. Welcome to a little town named Puerto Morelos, which consists of a tiny town square and two major roads. If you ever find yourself in Quintana Roo, but want to avoid all the hustle and bustle of an all-inclusive resorts: you need not look further, friends! Casitas Kinsol is a small hotel run by the incredibly friendly Christine and Co. There are several rooms to choose from (the picture shown is room 4), and each one has its own bit of rustic charm. To top it all off, Casitas Kinsol is only 2 miles from the beach! The hosts are accommodating, personable, and immensely helpful before and during your stay. They know all the delicious local eateries, off-the-beaten-path tours, and helpful hints on how to tackle the public transit. Tip: You can even bring your pooch along! Rooms average at about $28 during the off season and $50 during peak season.
