Carleton Martello Tower National Historic Site
This small circular fort, a National Historic Site of Canada, was built during the War of 1812 and is the oldest building in Saint John. Its military service lasted until the end of World War II, and included a stint as a prison for deserters during World War I. Guests can tour a restored powder magazine and soldiers’ barracks, or see an audiovisual show and interactive exhibits.
