A Tuscan gelato master finds a home in Rome
Carapina, one of Florenceā€™s foremost gelato shops, opened its first Roman location in May 2014. This branch is no franchise; master gelataio Simone Bonini oversees production and some mornings you'll even find him seeding fruit before transforming it into creamy sorbet and gelato. In addition to classics like strawberry, chocolate, pistachio, and hazelnut, Bonini also scoops unconventional flavors like Pecorino Romano, white raisin with wine, brandy-based gelato, and even gelato made with beer.
