The interior of this little chapel has only a very ornate and beautiful gilt altar with the statue of the patron saint, Santa Catarina.
You can't enter the chapel as the doors are locked, but you can look through the small window cutouts in the doors.
The size of the chapel can only be described as tiny. The interior is whitewashed and has gold wooden trim.
This is an ancient historic chapel in the old section of Chaves that is very well kept. The splendor of this miniature chapel is something to see. I have to admit that I was just gaping at the altar through the doorway.
The Capela de Santa Catarina in Chaves was one of those gems you are likely to discover when meandering through towns and villages while traveling.
Being a little curious during travels always has its rewards.
