As you walk the Camino, you’ll get to see the surf crashing into the shore along the Bay of Biscay. If rather than just admire it from afar, you decide you want to get a closer look at those waves, the coast has some of Spain’s best surf spots. Along the Basque Coast, Sopelana, Bakio, and Mundaka—the home of Spain’s most famous wave—draw surfers from around the world, while Barquera, Liencres, and Rodiles are some of the most famous surfing spots on the Cantabrian Coast. If rather than get up on a board, you’d prefer to watch the professionals instead, the Ferrolterra Classic, the Goanna Pro, and the Billabong Pro are some of the international competitions held here.
