The Magnolia Plantation traces its mid-18th century origin to the LeComte and later on the Hertzog family. This plantation survived periods of prosperity, poverty, and war. Apart of the famed Cane River Heritage Trail, it is one of the first stops of several historical landmarks paving it's way through Central Louisiana.
Upon your arrival you will be greeted with a ton of literature for your reading pleasure. Equipped with great facilities, this landmark has been well nurtured for by the local heritage society. Your best bet is exploring the ground in shoes rather than sandals. The grounds are covered with anthills, and if you are not looking for them, like I was, you will be covered in fire ants in no time.
