Another attraction to have opened in Winnipeg in 2014, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, is now a distinctive addition to the skyline and one of Will’s must-see sites in the city. American architect Antoine Predock’s design is maze of levels and skywalks, culminating in a tower with sweeping views. If you are anticipating that a visit will be a somber affair given the subject matter, it is actually surprisingly uplifting. While the museum does cover some of dark moments in history, at the same time it shines a light on fearless advocates who helped make a difference in the face of tyranny and oppression.
Canada’s established and emerging museums and galleries are covered in the nine itineraries to Canada that AFAR’s Travel Advisory Council has created. Check them out at AFAR Journeys.
