Hiking Through Aspens That Touch the Sky on Colorado's Continental Divide
The Continental Divide spans North America, going through Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico and down into Mexico. Along this expanse are some of the most gorgeous hiking trails, and while there isn't one defined place for a point of entry, there is a 12-mile round trip hike from the base of Camp Redcloud in Lake City, Colorado.
The aspen trees brush the blue sky, their leaves shimmering in the sun and ringing like tiny cymbals rustled by the wind. Switchbacks line this particular aspen field, and occasionally a herd of elk will grace you with their majestic presence, turning the place and the moment into a magnificent sanctuary.
