Caixa Cultural Center

A gorgeous 1912 neoclassical building facing the Marco Zero, the city's waterfront plaza, was originally a British bank and later housed the stock market for the state of Pernambuco. Inaugurated in 2012, it is today the Caixa Cultural Center. In addition to mounting roving exhibits on major artists, the space is devoted to honoring northeast folk arts and traditions. It also hosts live music and dance performances and avant-garde theater.
