While wandering Cairo's busy streets, I found this small bread stand open to the street. I loved the colors and paintings on the wall, and as I set up to take this photo, one of the bakers came out and posed. After I showed him my photo, he handed me one of the delicious bread treats shown on the right side here.
For me, the best part of Cairo is just this type of exploring. In the African continent's biggest city, you will first and foremost, encounter people; people sitting and sipping tea with hookah, people yelling to advertise their wares, people busily heading to the mosque, and yet people almost always willing to engage and converse. Cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and carts weave heir way around through all of these people, adding to the busyness.
If architecture is your thing, you can also expect to stumble upon old and intricate buildings, snuggling right next to bold and modern ones.
If picking a random street seems overwhelming, start in one of the markets to get your feet wet.
