Every year the bras, panties, glue guns and glitter come out for the huge September celebration Carnival in Belize City.
There are two über-patriotic holidays in Belize. The first, September 10th, is to commemorate the battle of St. George's Caye and the biggest is Independence Day, September 21st.
But if you are visiting, here is all you need to know: September is one giant party. In every village around the country. The Belize City carnival is almost complete chaos but in a good way. Let yourself be swept up by the craziness of it all. Dancers, revelers, loud music, body glitter, drums, kids, adults, food and truckloads of rum and beer. Bring your whistle, wear your red white and blue, and get ready to party with and like the locals—a total Belize bash.
