To understand the Niagara Escarpment, home to Niagara Falls, Bruce Trail is a must. No two areas of the trail are alike, and the views are spectacular. The Bruce Trail Conservancy (BTC) was born in 1960 with the goal to establish a conservation corridor with a public footpath along the Niagara Escarpment, to protect the natural ecosystems, and to promote sustainable and responsible public enjoyment in this UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve. Travelers note the loop around Lion's Head, where cliff faces are exceptional. The BTC suggests a fun way to shape your walk: a scavenger hunt for heritage trees to encourage hikers to spot the 16 trees that they have identified as special, like the Polish Soldier and the White Ash. Each tree tells its own remarkable story, and is noted for its size, age, or species.
