Compared to many Caribbean capitals, Bridgetown is a positively teeming metropolis, home to around 80,000 people (of the 280,000 in Barbados as a whole) as well as shopping and historic sights—the parliament is the third oldest legislature in the Western Hemisphere, though its neo-Gothic buildings date from the 19th century. On Friday nights, head to Oistins Fish Fry just to the south of Bridgetown for fresh fish, cold beers, and live music.
