Bridge on the River Kwai
On a sunny day, it was difficult to imagine the death and destruction caused by bombers that destroyed the railway between Myanmar and Thailand on the River Kwai. Restored to carry mostly tourists to and fro' on short rides along the historic 'Death Railway,' this bridge is once again in working condition. The nearby museum tells the story of the construction and destruction of the bridge with remnants of war including bomb casings, all sorts of currency that was exchanged in the 40's, photography equipment, sewing machines, and heaps of information about the treatment of POW's and lives lost along the railway.
